Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast to Host
3rd Annual Edible Book Festival

Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast will host its 3rd annual Edible Book Festival on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. The event will be held in the Anthony Commons on the College’s Coliseum Campus. The public viewing will be from Noon-1 p.m., and the reception with “book-tasting” will be from 1-2 p.m.

The event is held in conjunction with the International Edible Book Festival, an annual event on April 1 that unites bibliophiles, book artists, and food lovers across the world to celebrate the birthday of French gastronome Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826) – famous for his book Physiologie du goût, a witty meditation on food. Participants create edible books that are exhibited, documented, and consumed. The first festival of its kind was arranged in 2000, and many countries have taken part in the festival including the United States, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Mexico, Ireland, England, and Germany.

For questions about the event at Ivy Tech, contact Jen Traore, Library Tutor for Ivy Tech Community College, at 260-480-4176 or jheiding@ivytech.edu. For general information and photos of past events across the world, please see the official Edible Book Festival Web site at www.Books2Eat.com.
