Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is proud to be a leader in helping individuals nurture themselves educationally and
in assisting Indiana communities to develop and prosper. From its beginnings, the College has specialized in short-term training which meets the specific needs of business, industry and organizations as well as the personal and professional needs of individuals.

With more than 30 years experience in technical instruction, Ivy Tech Community College – Northeast provides leadership in promoting Indiana’s economic development by facilitating comprehensive economic development services, which is supported by the Workforce and Economic Development division (WED).

Mission Statement

Workforce & Economic Development is a flexible, responsive arm of the college designed to service the:

  • Needs of Employers for well educated, technically prepared workers capable of successfully competing in the global marketplace.
  • Needs of Professionals for upgrades in skills and knowledge necessary to stay abreast of a changing technological and leadership-skills environment.
  • Needs of the Public for interesting and convenient lifelong learning opportunities that promote personal growth and enrichment for all ages.

The WED division focuses attention on the development of short-term, flexibly scheduled courses designed to fulfill business and personal needs. Curriculum is developed in consultation with the client, experienced WED Project Consultants, and professionals from business, industry and academia to ensure that the recommended training is current, relevant and applicable.

Economic Development

The WED division also provides economic development solutions, which assists in attracting new businesses to the community by providing Accelerated Certified Training programs and services. Services include workforce training, assessment, consulting, apprenticeship coordination, vendor equipment training, and more.

WED staff is available to consult with businesses regarding the training and continuing education needs of their employees. WED is able to respond quickly to an employer's just-in-time training needs. In conjunction with local economic development offices, and the State of Indiana, WED is actively involved in producing Accelerated Certified Training services that assist employers in gaining a competitive edge in today's marketplace.
