D. International Student Insurance

All full-time international students in F-1 or M-1 visa status are automatically enrolled in Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana’s mandatory health insurance program for international students. Dependents of full-time students must also enroll in the College mandated health plan. Full-time status is defined as 12 credit hours per semester.  Students attending on a less than full-time basis may be accepted by the insurance company if the reduced class schedule is certified by the International Student Advisor.  Students not attending any classes at Ivy Tech in a given semester are NOT eligible for coverage under any circumstances.

Students with pre-arranged health insurance may request a waiver from the mandatory health insurance plan.  To qualify for a waiver, the student must submit the International Insurance Waiver Request Form to the regional International Student Advisor with proof of insurance coverage by 10 day headcount.  Certain minimum requirements must be met under the waiver.  Questions should be directed to the Executive Director of Benefits, Safety, and Liability Insurances at Central Office.
