The PDM is an analytical tool for distributing an individual's full time
equivalent effort and compensation across the activity structure based
upon a person's activities during a previously determined time period.
The PDM provides the means by which personnel units (such as FTE or contact
hours) and compensation (salaries and benefits) are spread to the various
instructional and support activity centers.
The PDM produces five different reports. The EDIT REPORT contains informational
and error messages relating to the data input to PDM. The PERSON REPORT
lists the activities in which each person is engaged, the number of person
units (FTE or contact hours) associated with each activity, and the amount
of compensation attributable to each activity. The CONSUMPTION REPORT
shows, for each activity center, institutional general ledger accounts
that support the personnel performing those various activities. The CONTRIBUTION
REPORT reverses the order of the data and shows how each institutional
general ledger account contributes or supports the various activities
in which personnel are engaged. A series of percentages are displayed
in the CONTRIBUTION REPORT relating to the percent of a particular funding
account that supports a particular activity. These percentage figures
are vitally important in terms of distributing institutional expenditures
from the general ledger to the activity structure. The percentages are
input to ACM, and constitute the CROSSOVER FILE. The payroll/personnel
system and the Faculty Activity Analysis form are the input documents
for the PDM.
