COMPASS/ASSET Testing
During Late Enrollment and the first week of classes, all students, including new and those already enrolled for that term, may test and/or retest during the first week of classes until 12:00 PM on Saturday. The students are only allowed one retest per term.
After the second week of classes has started, students who are currently enrolled in classes may not retest out of their current course or retest to advance to a higher course placement for the next term until after the last day to withdraw from classes. The students are only allowed one retest per term.
In order to test, students must have a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID card, or an Ivy Tech Student ID card. A completed application must be on file with Admissions.
Distance Education Testing
*For more information on proctoring policies found in the APPM, see page 8 of this update.
• The WCC provides testing for students taking online, hybrid, or self-paced classes through any Ivy Tech region.
• Testing for students taking online classes through other colleges/institutions are charged a $45 fee per test.
• Faculty teaching a traditional classroom section must get approval from Jim Naas for a test to be given for an entire class at the WCC.
Distance Education Testing—How it Works!
1. Faculty member thoroughly completes a “Statewide Distance Education Proctor Form,” located on page four of this handout, and submits to the WCC in person, via email (distancetesting-evansville@lists.ivytech.edu), US Mail, or fax (812-402-0084).
2. Student calls 812-429-9852 or emails r12-testcenter@lists.ivytech.edu for an appointment.
• The student will need to know the course name and number, the instructor’s name, and what test they want to take (ex., Exam 3, Chapter 4 Test, Midterm, etc.).
• If email is used, the student should also indicate a first and second choice of day and time.
3. Although walk-ins may be accepted as space permits, those who have appointments will be helped first. The WCC strongly encourages students to call as early as possible to get the date and time they prefer. Students who wait until the last minute to schedule appointments or those who walk-in may find that there is not enough space and will be unable to test. Instructors are asked to make their students aware of this policy.
4. In order to test, students must have a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state ID card, or an Ivy Tech Student ID card.
5 . After the student completes the test, it will be returned to the instructor according to the instructions on the proctor form.
6. Approximately one week after the deadline, tests not completed will be returned to the instructor.
7. Instructors wanting to extend a deadline must do so in person or via email (from their Ivy Tech email account). Extensions will not be made over the phone.
