Accounting Program

If you are interested in pursuing a career in Accounting, we are here for you. Many Ivy Tech graduates are employed as accountants, bookkeepers, accounts payable or accounts receivable clerks, payroll managers, tax preparers, and inventory specialists.

We offer classes in a traditional classroom setting during the day and evening hours. Most of the accounting courses are also offered on line and also during the summer. In most classrooms, there are less than 25 students.  The average class size for all business courses in the fall of 2006 was 15.3 students.  Small classes promote the learning environmentStudents can take classes on a full-time or part-time basis (less than 12 credit hours).  Many students choose to work and to go to college, too.

A student can complete two years at Ivy Tech and transfer to another college such as USI, with junior year standing; however, adjustments must be made to the standard accounting curriculum. An accounting advisor can help you with the transfer requirements.

Every full-time faculty member in the Accounting Program is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who has practiced in public accounting and earned a master’s degree in business. The Accounting Program is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.  Ivy Tech Community College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
