Online CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant)

5 Credits
Prerequisite: Read and write English. Have no medical restrictions. Two-step TB Exam and Physical Examination, and Ivy Tech application. Must have strong desire to work with the elderly in a long term care setting. Must contact (812) 429-9838 to obtain enrollment process.

You can now take the lecture part of the CNA at home via the Internet. You will need to be on campus 4 days for labs and testing and at your clinical site only 7 days. This is your opportunity to get your CNA license without doing so much driving. Program consists of 128 contact hours including lab, classroom, and clinical. The clinical portion is held at a long term care facility. Program meets the requirements of the Indiana State Department of Health, Long Term Care Division.

Online EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic)

Prerequisite: 18 years-old, High School Graduate or GED, College Application, and Compass Assessment.

This 7.5 credit-hour course will be taught as a hybrid class. The entire didactic (lecture) portion will be online. Didactic final and labs will be held at Ivy Tech on Saturdays and clinical observations will be at a hospital emergency room and at a local ambulance service. The course covers theories, techniques and operational aspects of pre-hospital emergency care within the scope and responsibility of the EMT-B. It prepares students for the state certification examination. Course cost does not include cost of the state certification written or practical skills examination.

Online First Responder

Prerequisite: Compass Assessment and College Application

This three credit hour hybrid course will have the didactic (lecture) portion online with the labs (only four days) held on Saturday at Ivy Tech. It provides students with information necessary to recognize emergency situations, to know the proper course of action with different types of emergencies and to apply appropriate first aid. Addresses handling of victims of hazardous materials accidents and covers CPR, including one and two rescuer and adult, infant and
child resuscitation. Tuition and tech fee subject to change.

Online QMA (Qualified Medication Aide)

Prerequisite: Extensive list of prerequisites including CNA Certification, 1,000 hours of documented work experience as a CNA within the last 24 months, and letter of reference from employer.

You can now take the lecture part of the QMA at home or at work via the internet. You will need to be on campus 2 days for labs and testing and at your clinical site to complete the 40-hour practicum. This is your opportunity to get your QMA license without doing so much driving. Class consists of 64 classroom hours and 40 clinical hours. It meets the new Indiana State Department of Health QMA

curriculum guidelines. The 40-hour clinical experience is held at a local long term care facility. Tuition and Tech Fee subject to change.
