| Student’s Car Gets 1,313 miles per gallon

Ivy Tech Community College Student Ryan Ross and his team participated in the 2006 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Supermileage Competition in Marshall, Michigan, on June 7 and 8. Their award-winning car got 1,313 miles to the gallon and was the highest ranking car from the U.S. in the college division.
Among the colleges competing were Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Cal Poly San Luis Ibispo and others from the U.S., Canada and India.
In addition to the third place award, Ivy Tech also won Vehicle with the Greatest Visual Appeal and Most Helpful Team. “Students Ryan Ross and Brandon Hutchinson represented the school well,” said Brian West, Technology Division Chair. “We hope to carry on the winning-tradition for years to come.”
