College for Working Adults

What is the College for Working Adults?

  • College for Working Adults is an opportunity for students to complete an associate of applied science degree in two years while attending classes only two evenings per week.
  • Students will attend classes two nights a week each semester. These courses will be 8-week “hybrid courses”, also called “accelerated courses”, that each meet one night per week. The courses will be scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays. The courses will require classroom and online study.
  • Courses are scheduled over six semesters.
  • Students will complete four courses during the fall and spring semesters and two courses during the summer semesters.

What are the criteria for joining a cohort for the accelerated degree program?

  • Students must be program-ready as indicated by pre-enrollment assessment.
  • Students must be willing and able to make a 2-year commitment to the program.
  • Students must be available to take classes on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

What degrees are available?
At this time, we have two program options. In the future, more programs will be available in all areas of study.

  • Business Administration/Management
  • Computer Information Technology/Networking
  • Accounting (to begin in Fall 2008)
  • Medical Assisting (to begin in Fall 2008
  • Design Technology (to begin in Fall 2008)

What are the benefits of the accelerated programs?

  • Students will have more flexibility with work and personal time.
  • Cohorts will be formed which will benefit the student in study and encouragement.

What else do you need to know?

  • Orientation sessions will be held each semester.
  • If you fail to complete a course successfully, it may take longer to complete the program as many of the courses are prerequisites for future courses.
