Ivy Tech Community College East Central Continues Growth
INDIANAPOLIS—Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana reported a 10-day summer enrollment increase of 4.5% from the previous summer. Students are also taking more classes, with full-time equivalents (total number of credit hours divided by 15) up 3.7 percent from the same period last year.
In the East Central Indiana region, which includes the Anderson, Marion and Muncie campuses, enrollment is up 7 percent with 2,958 students enrolled this summer, while FTEs are up three-tenths of a percent from the summer 2005 semester. Due to the way the summer semester is structured at Ivy Tech, there is the opportunity not only for current students to continue their education uninterrupted, but it also is a chance for high school seniors to get a jump-start on college courses and for students from other colleges to take a transferable course or two while home for the summer.
“We are very pleased with our enrollment numbers and expect them to continue to increase as more individuals become familiar with what the College has to offer and experience the value of an Ivy Tech education,” said Gail Chesterfield, acting chancellor for the East Central Region.
Ivy Tech Community College is the state’s second largest public post-secondary institution. Ivy Tech has 23 campuses throughout Indiana and serves as the engine of workforce development in the state, offering degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
