Muncie Student Receives National Scholarship
Ivy Tech State Community College-East Central student, Megan Rodriguez, Marion, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.
Annually, the Foundation awards a total of 400 scholarships to students attending higher education institutions granting two-year degrees. All recipients have demonstrated academic success and performed 100 hours of community service within the past 12 months.
Rodriguez is pursuing an associate degree in Physical Therapy Assisting at the Muncie campus of Ivy Tech. A member and officer of the Muncie/Marion chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, international scholastic honorary for two-year colleges, Rodriguez has focused her community service on helping disadvantaged women and troubled teens in her community. Utilizing her experience as a dancer, Rodriguez provided dance team instruction at a facility for troubled teenage girls, allowing her to encourage the girls and help them build confidence. She is also a member of traveling dance team that ministers to churches and at local conferences.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation is supported by the financial commitment of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Anderson and Portland, IN and the Coca-Cola Company. The Foundation was created in 1986 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Coke and to establish a legacy for the education of tomorrow’s leaders.
