Tips for New Students Pay your fees. You are not officially registered until your account is settled in the Bursar's Office. If you are receiving financial aid, check with the Financial Aid Office to make sure that all of your paperwork is in order.

Buy your books . Virtually every class uses a book. Books are available at the Campus Bookstore. Always get your books prior to the first class session. Read a few chapters ahead if possible so that you will be prepared for your first class. (Students planning to charge books against their financial aid balance should check with the Financial Aid Office for instructions.)

Attend every class. There are hundreds of reasons why you might consider skipping class. Our experience shows, however, that the single best predictor of class performance is attendance. The general rule is "be in class whenever possible." If you must miss a class, make sure to contact your instructor as soon as possible to explain your situation and to talk about making up the missed assignment.

Last but not least, contact your advisor or the Student Affairs Office whenever you have a question. Don't wait for issues to become a problem. You may use the online request form if you have any questions or need additional information.

We're here to help!
