YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLIED WITH ALL THE INFORMATION REQUESTED WHICH IS LISTED BELOW IN STEPS 1 THROUGH 8, as applicable. These requirements MUST be completed and submitted to the Ivy Tech Community College - Bloomington based on the deadlines indicated below. Due to high enrollment numbers and therefore, limited course availability, these deadlines have been established to best ensure an international student's ability to enroll in a full-time course load (at least twelve credit hours) as required by law. There are NO exceptions to these established deadlines!

ADMISSIONS STEPS
1. APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
An application of Admissions must be completed and submitted by the student. International students may apply online at http://cc.ivytech.edu/
International students must enroll in a degree or certificate program and have a stated major on file at the College. International students are required enroll and complete a minimum of at least twelve (12) credit hours during the Fall semester and the Spring semester. Students are not required to enroll in classes during the summer term. Please note that the College must give preference to Indiana residents for certain program
acceptance. Students are subject to the policies of the College and expected to adhere to acceptable behavior adopted by the College and the community. More information can be found in the Student Handbook. Students are responsible for reading and understanding the information contained within the Student Handbook. Student Handbooks are located in the Office of Student Affairs or can be downloaded online.

2. EVALUATION OF ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
A foreign transcript equivalency evaluation from an approved evaluator is required to indicate the student has attained at least the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma. Said evaluation (including appropriate fee) is the responsibility of the student. Ivy Tech Community College does not evaluate foreign academic credentials. The type of evaluation report required by Ivy Tech Community College is the general report.

3. PROOF OF FINANCIAL SOLVENCY

F-1 international students are not eligible to receive any state or federal Financial Aid. Ivy Tech Community College does not offer any special grants, scholarships or loans to international students. On campus opportunities are extremely limited and should not be considered as a source of supplemental income. It must be emphasized that current employment conditions and immigration laws of the United States governing non-quota immigration students DO NOT permit the international student to be employed while in the United States and earn any or part of the above expenses. Unauthorized employment is a violation of immigration status. Employment for the purpose of practical training is limited, and subject to the guidelines and approval of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Estimated expenses for a single student, exclusive of holidays, vacations, or other travel costs, based on current economic standards, personal life-style may increase costs considerably.
3a) Rent, food, transportation, mandatory insurance and personal supplies for twelve (12)
months. Student or sponsor is responsible for housing $16,870.00
3b) Tuition* (approximate) for two (2) semesters (Fall and Spring). All international students
MUST register for a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours. Students who hold an
international visa are required to pay out-of-state fees of $193.30 per credit hour.

*The tuition figure quoted is an estimate based on fees for a student taking an average to
maximum course load. Tuition expenditures may vary depending on program of study, level of
study, and number of credit hours. Summer enrollment is not required for most foreign students
and is not included in the estimate above. Tuition for optional summer enrollment is dependent
on the number of credits studies.
Additional funding is required for spouse and children. A married student should anticipate
costs of at least $7,085.00 per year to support the first dependent (spouse or child) and $2,425.00
for each subsequent dependent. Mandatory health insurance is also required for spouse and each
child. Cost of health insurance for spouse is $2400.00 per year and cost of health insurance for
eligible children is $1500.00 per year.
Financial support requirements can be fulfilled in one of the two categories listed below:
3f) Self-supporting students:
- The student must file a statement with the Designated School Official declaring financial self-
sufficiency and responsibility for all necessary expenses of their college education and must
provide a statement (sealed or notarized) from a bank official or other financial officer indicating
the amount has been in existence for more than six (6) months and sufficient funding is available
to cover the student's expenses for the duration of enrollment. A Statement and Certification of
Finances form is included in this packet.
3g) Parent, Family Member and/or Sponsor*:
The party must provide an official financial statement and guarantee of source of funds for the
student during his/her enrollment. This must be accompanied by a bank official's or other
financial officer's certification (sealed or notarized) that the account has been in existence for
more than six (6) months and that sufficient funds are available to cover the student's expenses
for the duration of enrollment. A Statement and Certification of Finances form is included in
this packet.
*A Sponsor who is a permanent resident or a U.S. Citizen must complete and submit U.S. Government
Form I-134 with supporting financial documentation as required in I-134 instructions.
All documentation must be in English and equivalent to US dollars. All documentation must be
on official stationary from the bank or lending institution.

4. PROVEN SATISFACTORY ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
Students whose first language is not English are generally required to take an English proficiency test such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and have the results sent directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to the Ivy Tech Community College - Bloomington campus. The TOEFL code of Ivy Tech Bloomington is 1180. The acceptable level of proficiency based on the TOEFL test is 213 or higher (compute-based), 550 or higher (paperbased) or 79 (internet-based). Scores will only be considered if they are less than two years old.
A language proficiency test may be waived if an applicant is from an English speaking country (see list below), has completed secondary school in the U.S. with passing grades in non-English as a Second Language courses, or is a college transfer student from an accredited college in the U.S. and has completed standard Freshman English with a grade of 'C' or higher.

5. MANDATORY INSURANCE INFORMATION
International students MUST purchase the Ivy Tech Community College mandated health insurance plan for the entire period of enrollment as a student at the College. This insurance provides coverage for medical, accident, medical evacuation and repatriation, which will be billed with tuition and fees for that semester of enrollment at the College. Insurance coverage must also be provided for all dependents. Information on international student insurance is enclosed. Once the student is enrolled in classes, the fee of the insurance will be added to the
student's College account. Upon payment of the insurance fee, the student will be provided with a card that can be used to obtain medical services. An information packet describing the insurance coverage is included in this packet.

6. TRANSFER STUDENT INFORMATION (If applicable)
Applicants who wish to transfer to Ivy Tech Community College must inform their present college/university of their intent to transfer. Any student desired to transfer from college or university in the U.S. must adhere to the deadlines stipulated above. Students must be full-time and degree-seeking and must be eligible for readmission to the last institution attended. All international transfer students must submit the following documents:
A. Copy of I-20 issued by the current college or university
B. "International Student Transfer Reference Form" from International Student Office at current institution (included in the packet)
C. Official transcript from current institution
