Admissions Checklist

All new students must complete the following steps:

1. Ivy Tech Community College Application for Admission
2. Proof of High School Completion
3. International Students
4. Transfer of Credits
5. Academic Skills Assessment: (COMPASS)
6. New Student Orientation

1. Ivy Tech Community College Application for Admission
This form must be completed in full, signed and returned to the eastcentral campus or completed online.
No application fee is required. (use the links to the left to request further information.)

2. Proof of High School Completion
All degree or certificate seeking students must provide proof of high school completion.
You must provide one of the following:

  • If you have completed an Associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college, you may submit an official transcript from the college/university that indicates the date of college graduation; or, 

  • If you have attended a regionally accredited college, but have not completed a degree, an official transcript from that college may be submitted on which the date of high school graduation is indicated; or,

  • If you are a high school graduate from a public school, home school, private school or a high school correspondence school, you must provide an official transcript consisting of courses and grades received, graduation date, and official signature and/or seal;

  • You may submit an official GED report of passing test scores from the American Council on Education (ACE). Nursing students are to please refer to “Nursing Admissions Requirements” .

3. International Students
International students should refer to the “International Student Admissions” page for an explanation of the admission requirements.

4. Transfer of Credits
If you are requesting that credits be evaluated for transfer purposes from a college or university you previously attended, you must submit a separate “Request for Official Transcript” form to the appropriate institution(s). Once submitted to Ivy Tech Community College– eastcentral, the transcript(s) will be evaluated and you will be notified if any credits are to be transferred.

5. Academic Skills Assessment: (COMPASS)
If you are a full-time or part-time degree or certificate seeking student, or if you plan to enroll in any general education courses, you must participate in an academic skills assessment in writing, reading, mathematics and basic algebra. This assessment is entitled COMPASS.

COMPASS must be completed prior to registration and the results from this assessment are used by the advisor and the student for course placement purposes. COMPASS is free of charge. For more information on the COMPASS and its availability, please consult the COMPASS web page.

6. New Student Orientation
In addition to the COMPASS, all entering students should plan to attend one of the New Student Orientation seminars prior to registration. These sessions have been developed to ease the transition to college by addressing many of the questions and concerns that students may have when starting at Ivy Tech Community College. During the orientation, information is provided on the College, the eastcentral campus, the advisement and registration process as well as the services available to help students succeed.
