| Admissions Process
In order to register for classes and to receive financial aid you must complete all items listed below to complete an official registration for enrollment.
Admissions Session
All new students must attend an Admission Session prior to enrolling in courses at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana. High School seniors should attend a session in March of the senior year. In addition, all new students must have a completed admissions applications on file in the Records Office. Transcripts
The Ivy Tech Records Office must have an official high school or GED transcript on file. It is the responsibility of the enrolling student to request these transcripts from their high school. The transcript must include the date of graduation. **Click here for a transcript request form (PDF). Students with college credit must request a transcript from previously attended college(s). A request for transfer of credit form must be completed in the Records Office.
Evaluation If the initial course placement evaluation shows that a student has the skills necessary to succeed in his/her chosen program, the student may be allowed to enroll in course work for that program. If the initial course placement evaluation shows that the student needs improvement in one or more of the skill area(s), academic skills courses are recommended. The student may enroll in program courses while completing academic skills courses, provided he/she has met the prerequisites for enrollment in the program course(s). If the initial course placement evaluation indicates that the applicant is unlikely to achieve success at Ivy Tech, he/she will be referred to an appropriate community resource offering the needed assistance. The applicant may enter the admissions process at a later date, following completion of skills upgrading. Initial course placement evaluation may be substituted if the applicant submits either: (a) an official transcript from an accredited post-secondary institution indicating achievement consistent with Ivy Tech's admission standards; or,
(b) acceptable standardized test scores (i.e., SAT, ACT).
SAT : 460 Writing, 460 Reading, 460 Math
ACT : 19 Writing, 19 Reading, 19 Math
The College reserves the right to guide the enrollment of students in particular programs or courses on the basis of past academic records, vocational/technical counseling, and testing.

If the initial evaluation indicates that a student must complete two or more English Academic Skills Classes, they must meet with an Academic Skills Advisor until they have completed this requirement. Students must meet with a program advisor in their area of interest to schedule classes. The program advisor will assist the student in completing the course reservation form. Completing Registration
After meeting with the program advisor, the course reservation form must be taken to the Records Office, where the student's classes will be reserved. Each student will receive one (1) copy of the completed course reservation form showing that registration is complete. (This course reservation should be kept by the student throughout the semester.)
