Credit Transfer Options Transferring to the College
The College encourages students who have previously attended other recognized colleges and universities, adult education programs and high school vocational technical programs to forward transcripts to Ivy Tech by the midpoint of the first semester of enrollment or re-enrollment for consideration for transfer of credit and /or advanced placement.
Students are responsible for providing pertinent course descriptions and/or copies of the college catalog(s) if further documentation is needed to facilitate the review.
In respect to transfer credits from a foreign institution, Ivy Tech will look at an evaluation of those courses done by an external evaluation agency/transfer if appropriate.
The College reserves the right to refuse admission or to accept conditionally those students who have been dismissed for disciplinary reasons from other colleges or universities.
Transfer of Credit
Ivy Tech has articulation agreements, under which students may transfer individual courses or entire programs of study to a number of public and private institutions. A student, depending on his or her goals, may choose to transfer to another college or university and pursue a bachelor's degree after completion of a series of courses or completion of a two-year degree program at Ivy Tech. Some of these agreements are college wide and some pertain to specific campuses of Ivy Tech.
The selection of an institution for transfer should be an individual decision based upon the extent to which credits will transfer, compatibility of degree programs, location, availability of programming, philosophy, and cost of attending the transfer school. Opportunities are available to Ivy Tech students to transfer and complete a baccalaureate program as a resident or commuting student. In addition, opportunities are available to pursue a bachelor's degree using distance technologies, which will allow a student to complete a degree program within the home community, even at an Ivy Tech campus.

Students may pursue an articulated bachelor of science in various areas at Ball State University (detailed in the academic program section ), and transfer a wide range of other general and technical coursework to Ball State. The CONNECT program provides an option for students who have not been accepted to Ball State as freshmen, through which they can enroll at Ivy Tech. Students successfully completing CONNECT requirements are guaranteed admission to Ball State.
Ivy Tech Community College and Franklin University have formed an alliance that allows students to earn a bachelor's degree without leaving Ivy Tech. Every credit from your associate's degree transfers.
There are a wide array of available majors. You can view the degree options here.
Ivy Tech is also a member of the ABELINC project, a collaborative partnership involving selected two-year colleges across the country and Governors State University (GSU), a state university in Illinois. The ABELINC project, through its Board of Governors Bachelor of Arts degree program, serves adults who are mobile, work full-time, live in areas under-served by four-year institutions, and/or find it difficult to complete their baccalaureate programs through traditional, campus-based programs. Students may take up to 80 credit hours at Ivy Tech that will apply toward the 120 credit hours required for the B.A. Students may complete the entire Bachelor of Arts program in their home community.
It is the right and responsibility of the receiving institution to determine whether to accept credits from another institution. Students planning to transfer should check with the receiving institution's policy on credit transfer before enrolling in classes at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.
