On-Campus Instruction/Early Admission

College classes taken at an Ivy Tech Community College site are taught by credentialed college faculty, and tuition applies.

Ivy Tech faculty and staff work with the high school principal or counselors to identify students to participate. Students enroll in Ivy Tech classes for which they meet admission requirements. Upon approval of the high school, credit earned can apply to high school graduation requirements. Scheduling of coursework can be during the regular school day as approved by the high school or after regular school hours. Students experience the demands of completing college level coursework in a college setting.

Steps to take

• The student must be 16 years of age.
• Complete the Ivy Tech application at the admissions office in your region. Contact the admissions office or the dual credit coordinator in your region for more specific information.
• Take the Ivy Tech Assessment OR bring high school transcript with PSAT/SAT/ACT scores that meet the Ivy Tech Community College requirements. Student must meet readiness requirements through designated PSAT/SAT/ACT scores or Accuplacer assessment and any course prerequisites.
• To enroll in classes, contact the Ivy Tech Admissions office in your region and request an appointment to see an advisor.
• Pay for the college class(es) (current rate) and textbooks.

Things you should know

• Ivy Tech based tuition and fees apply and may be paid by the individual student or the high school. Class cost per credit hour.
• Many Ivy Tech classes reach capacity. It is important to make an appointment with an Admissions advisor three to four months in advance of the semester start date to register for class(es).
• Student may take 3-18 credits per semester, however, should meet with an Ivy Tech Community College Admissions advisor.
• Registered high school students are considered Ivy Tech students. Each student must follow the Ivy Tech region's Authorization to Release policy.
• Students who have IEP's from their high school and are interested in pursuing accommodations while in college, must contact the Disability Support Services office in your Ivy Tech region. Students will need to make an appointment and will be informed of necessary documents.
