Use of COMPASS Scores for Placement

COMPASS assessment is available at no cost to students and is the most common way Ivy Tech students demonstrate their readiness for college-level coursework. COMPASS is a placement instrument, created by ACT and used by post secondary institutions in Indiana and surrounding states to place college students into coursework appropriate for the students' skill level.

Writing 70+ & Reading 80+	ENGL 111 English Composition (TransferIN) and other entry-level college courses
Algebra 35+	MATH 118 Concepts in Mathematics (TransferIN)
Algebra 66+	MATH 136 College Algebra (TransferIN) and other algebra and trigonometry-related courses
