Senior Scholars
If you're 60 or older, you can take classes FREE!
Ivy Tech Community College is offering qualified Indiana senior citizens
an opportunity to enroll in credit courses at the College
free of charge. Under
Ivy Tech's "Senior Scholars" program, Indiana
residents 60 years of age and older can enroll in courses
at Ivy Tech tuition free.
Ordinarily, Ivy Tech tuition is $91.30 per credit hour, so Senior
Scholars can save more than $270 per 3-credit class at Ivy
Tech's rates! The only fee you'll be assessed is a $40
technology fee each semester plus books or materials that might
be required. So, the more classes you take, the more you save.
Qualifications
Ivy Tech Senior Scholar candidates must be:
- An Indiana resident
- At least 60 years of age
- A high school graduate or GED recipient
- Retired from their primary vocation
- Not employed full time
Course Options
The Senior Scholars program extends to Ivy Tech's wide array of
credit course offerings. The College currently offers more than 2,000
courses in six divisions: Arts and Design, Business, General Education,
Health Sciences, Public Services, and Technology. Not all courses are
available at each location.
Specific course information and availability are detailed in the College Catalog.
Distance Education
Senior Scholars also can take a course delivered by distance
education or through the Internet. Classes are delivered via
satellite from one college or university campus to learning
centers located throughout Indiana, many of which are on Ivy
Tech campuses. The College also delivers courses directly
to student homes via cable television, public broadcasting,
video tapes or the Internet.
Other Information
The Senior
Scholars program applies to credit courses only. Classes
must be taken for a letter grade; Senior Scholars may not
audit classes. Non-credit courses and special training programs
offered by the College's Corporate and Continuing Education
Services (CCES) are not eligible.
While tuition is
free, students will still be responsible for books and supplies;
some specialized courses may also involve a fee for consumable
materials.
In addition, some
courses require a prerequisite, which must be met before enrollment
is permitted. Enrollment may also be restricted in some courses
which are part of a degree program.
The college reserves
the right to cancel or change courses based upon demand or
other circumstances.
How to Enroll
To enroll in the Senior Scholars program, residents must do
the following:

program, which are listed above.
- Enroll in the eligible course(s) desired, filling out

will not be required to complete the college's application
