Enrollment Steps: New Students — Certificate or Degree Seeking
  1. Attend a General Information Session.
    New students wishing to learn more about Ivy Tech State Community College - Columbus, its programs and services are invited to attend an information session as the first step in the enrollment process. Students interested in the Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology or Radiologic Technology programs should attend a Health Services Information Session instead of a General Information Session.

    For a listing of General Information Sessions or Health Sciences Information Sessions, please refer to the College Calendar.

    To register for one of the sessions, please call the Office of Student Affairs at (812) 374-5142 or (800) 922-4838, ext. 5142.

    Attendance at the General Information Sessions is not mandatory, however, it is recommended. Individuals who do not attend an information session still may complete the other enrollment steps and register for classes.

    Attendance at the Health Sciences Information Session is mandatory.

  2. Complete an Ivy Tech application for admission.
    The completed application should be submitted to the Office of Student Affairs.

  3. Submit official high school transcript or GED scores.
    Students who have attended other colleges or universities also should request official transcripts from those institutions to be evaluated for possible transfer of credit. The granting institution should send all transcripts to:

  4. Make financial aid arrangements.
    Contact the Office of Financial Aid, ext. 5157, if you plan to apply for financial aid. Students seeking financial aid should apply at least six weeks before the beginning of the semester to ensure adequate time for processing of their applications by the Federal Government Processing Center.

  5. Attend a Success Seminar.
    If you are a new student to Ivy Tech and do not have previous college experience, you must attend a Success Seminar to take the academic placement test, participate in new student orientation and register for classes. The seminar lasts approximately five hours.
