Be sure to select the "Columbus" campus if completing the on-line application. You can also request additional information by selecting the "Request Info" link on the web page above. If you'd like to have an application mailed to you please call us at 800-922-4838, ext. 5142.

Be Assessed For Placement

Assessment is used to help determine what classes a student will take initially and is required before a student can register for most classes. Assessment is not an entrance exam; there is no entrance exam at Ivy Tech Community College! Students who have prior college experience that included math and/or English classes or who have ACT or SAT scores that are less than 4 years old should contact the Admissions Office to have this information evaluated to determine if it can substitute for some or all of the assessment. Students without prior college experience or ACT/SAT scores take a free placement assessment. To schedule a placement assessment or for more information contact the Admissions Office.

Submit official high school transcripts or official GED scores

Official high school transcripts or official GED scores should be provided to the Admissions Office. Official documents can also be mailed directly to Ivy Tech - Columbus, from your high school or GED testing center. Transcript or GED score request forms are available from the Admissions Office or can be downloaded, if needed.

Attend Freshman Orientation

If you are a new Ivy Tech student and do not have prior college experience, you must attend a free New Freshman Orientation. Orientation sessions are held at various times during the year and are scheduled by contacting the Admissions Office.

Register For Classes

Once the Application for Admission and assessment for placement have been completed students can meet with an advisor to register for the first semester of classes. Freshman Orientation and submission of high school transcripts or GED score sheets are also required but will not prevent registration for the student's first semester of classes.

Satisfy Fees/Financial Aid

Fees can be satisfied via financial aid or payment by the student. Deferral payment plans are available through the Business Office for an additional service charge. Students seeking financial aid must submit a FASFA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). FAFSA forms should be submitted to the Federal Government Processing Center at least six weeks before the start of the semester you plan to attend. FAFSA worksheets are available at our Financial Aid office or can be downloaded at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

If you have questions about financial aid, please contact our Financial Aid Office at 800-922-4838, ext. 5157.
