Students from Ivy Tech Community College will mark their commencement Friday. Five hundred forty-three students from the Bloomington campus are expected to receive associate degrees, technical certificates and certificates. These 543 students, too, should be proud of reaching their individual goals. Many of them, too, have taken a circuitous route to a degree. At the same time, the community should take great pride in the growth and maturity of Ivy Tech’s Bloomington campus. Not only does it educate young people, but it retrains workers, partners with businesses and industries, and participates very actively in the fabric of Monroe and surrounding counties.

According to advance information provided by the college, Friday’s featured speaker, nursing graduate Amber Snider, will tell those attending a story of determination and dedication, and how Ivy Tech changed her life.

That’s what Ivy Tech does for many of its students: It changes their lives for the better. That’s worth a big celebration Friday.
