Free health tests and immunizations for children will be offered at the Children’s Expo this weekend at Ivy Tech.

Bloomington Parks & Recreation and Community & Family Resources Departments, and partners Ivy Tech Community College and the American Camp Association, present the annual expo Saturday from 1 until 4 p.m. at the Ivy Tech Community College main campus, 200 Daniels Way in Bloomington.

The Expo provides free health screenings and immunizations to Bloomington-area children, and offers an expo hall featuring exhibitors with products and services for children and families.

“Children’s Expo is a fun and totally free afternoon that’s all about children and their families,” Karen Serfling, Children’s Expo coordinator, said in a prepared statement. “Health screenings for preschoolers help identify potential problems early, so children can start school ready and able to be successful.”

Most routine childhood immunizations will be available free of charge for all children under the age of 18. Parents should bring their children’s immunization records.

Free health screenings are also offered free of charge for all children under 5 in the areas of speech, hearing, developmental, spinal health, dental, and lead.

Exhibitors in the Expo Hall have plenty to offer children and families as well, from child care options to information about WIC and other assistance programs. A Camp Fair offers parents and children the chance to talk with staff from different summer day and resident camps in the Bloomington area, and provides information so parents can make the best summer camp decisions for their children.

Support for the Children’s Expo is provided by the entertainment sponsor, the IU School of Optometry, and other community partners: Indiana University Health, United Way of Monroe County, Osmon Chiropractic Center, and Bloomington Pediatric Dentistry.
