The Cook Institute for Entrepreneurship was launched to bring students, area entrepreneurs and community members together to provide a forum to share the vision for the Cook Center and hear from leaders in our entrepreneurship community about the importance of supporting innovation and free enterprise.

2012 COOK INSTITUTE FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  Patricia R. Miller, Co-Founder, Vera Bradley, Fort Wayne, IN

Indiana entrepreneur Patricia R. Miller, co-founder of Vera Bradley served as the luncheon keynote speaker with her presentation "Be colorful:  unleashing your entrepreneurial spirit."  Patricia discussed Vera Bradley's history as well as some of her advice and lessons learned on business, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy.
 


2011 COOK INSTITUTE FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  Mickey Maurer, Chairman of the Board of The National Bank of Indianapolis

Michael S. ("Mickey") Maurer's career as an attorney and entrepreneur has included cable television, film production, radio broadcasting, newspaper publishing, real estate and banking.  Mickey serves as Chairman of the Board of IBJ Corporation.  IBJ own and publishes The Indianapolis Business Journal, Court and Commercial Record, and The Indiana Lawyer.  Mickey also serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of The National Bank of Indianapolis, the largest locally owned financial institution in central Indiana. 


LUNCHEON
: Indiana entrepreneur and friend to the Cook family, Mickey Maurer served as the luncheon keynote speaker and talked about the importance of Mr. Cook's "ready, fire, aim" philosophy and his 10 essential principles of entrepreneurship for budding entrepreneurs.

WORKSHOP:  Social Media - Return on Investment
This interactive workshop involved a discussion on how to measure the return on investment of a social media strategy.  This was not just about using Facebook and Google, but how social media strategy impacts operations, productivity and the bottom line.


2010 COOK INSTITUTE FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP

KEYNOTE SPEAKER:  John Mutz, Former Lt. Governor of Indiana

John M. Mutz is a seasoned executive with more than 45 years experience in the fields of politics, philanthropy and business. He is chair emeritus and former chairman of Lumina Foundation for Education, was two-term lieutenant governor of Indiana, President of Lilly Endowment, Inc., President of PSI Energy, Chairman of the City of Indianapolis Department of Waterworks, Indiana State Senator and Indiana State Representative.


LUNCHEON
: Former Lt. Governor of Indiana, John Mutz, spoke about the importance of entrepreneurs in our communities and along with the panel, shared stories and answered questions on challenges and rewards of starting your own business venture.
