Food Flix Film Festival is a contest for amateur filmmakers focusing on intergenerational relationships sharing in culinary activity.

The contest will culminate during the Creative Aging Festival in May on 2012. The Creative Aging Festival is a month-long celebration honoring our elders and their creative contributions to our community. The Festival’s purpose is to showcase the talents of our elders; cultivate intergenerational understanding through dialogue, storytelling, and passing on traditions, and to highlight the value of creative engagement for adult health and well-being.

Rules:
1. The video must involve a minimum of two people separated in age by at least one generation in between.
2. The food related activity should be a traditional family favorite reflecting a cultural heritage.
3. The video should be largely unscripted. Small scripted sections, such as introduction of people and dishes are allowed.
4. Videos should be no longer than 30 minutes.

Judging Criteria:
- Artistic quality
- Interactive engagement
- Educational value
- Entertainment value

Prizes:
Grand prize: Two classes* from the Center for Lifelong Learning at Ivy Tech Bloomington (ivytech.edu/cll), $150 gift certificate to Best Buy, video shown on CATS television
Second place: $50 gift certificate to Best Buy, video shown on CATS television
Third place: $25 gift certificate to Best Buy, video shown on CATS television

Ivy Tech is launching a "Food Flix Film Festival" in an effort to connect youth and elderly populations in our community. The project was launched as part of an initiative of the City of Bloomington's Commission on Aging. The agency encourages institutions in the community to independently develop creative programming for joining youth and elderly populations.

"Food Flix Film Festival" is a contest for amateur filmmakers, focusing on intergenerational relationships sharing in a culinary activity. The festival will culminate during the Creative Aging Festival in May 2012, where entries will be judged and prizes will be awarded to a winner.
