Severe weather conditions or other emergencies occasionally make it necessary to close the campus. Classes are only cancelled under extreme emergency conditions. Students are encouraged, but not required, to sign up for the Ivy Tech Alert System in which emergency text messages are sent to registered cell phones. Get registered at http://www.ivytech.edu/alert.

Emergency medical assistance should be obtained by dialing 911 for any individual believed to be seriously incapacitated by a potentially life-threatening condition. A College employee should remain with the individual to provide necessary assistance until professional help arrives. If the individual is thought to be ill or injured, but the condition does not appear to be life-threatening, the Ivy Tech Community College employee should offer to call family, friends or 911 for the individual. The name of an “Emergency Contact Person” may be on file with the Registrar’s Office in A133, (812-330-6016) if the student has completed this information on his/her Course Reservation Form. College employees should not offer medical treatment, diagnostic services or transportation services to individuals for life-threatening or non life-threatening conditions. The employee should encourage the individual to seek advice from his/her own health care provider. Ivy Tech Community College employees should not refer ill or injured faculty, staff, students, or visitors to the Nursing Program offices or to the Nursing faculty for diagnostic services or treatment. Any accident or injury involving students should be reported on the “Student Incident/Accident/Exposure Report Form.” These forms are available in the Word Processing Center, the Library, and the Main Lobby Reception Desk.

The Lost and Found will be in the Word Processing Center (WPC) on the second floor in A223. If a student comes in after the WPC is closed, the staff at the Main Lobby Reception Desk will provide the student with information as to how to contact the WPC. If an item is found and the student cannot come in during WPC business hours, the item will be left at the Main Lobby Reception desk for them to pick up. Books, keys, jackets, and other things are often found and will be kept for a few weeks. Unclaimed items with be disposed of afterward. Food items found will be thrown away. To be safe, mark items belonging to you with your name. When found and given to College staff members, we will try to get in touch with you to let you know your belongings have been found.
The purpose of the Drug and Alcohol-Free College Policy is to maintain a safe and productive teaching and learning environment and to be in compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989. As part of the effort to create a drug-free campus, Ivy Tech Community College believes that employees and students should be educated about the physical and emotional health risks associated with the misuse of alcohol and drugs, treatment programs available in Indiana, and the possible legal consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. Books and Supplies - In order to be prepared for class, all students should purchase required books and supplies prior to the first day of class. These are available in the Bookstore located upstairs in Room A220. If you are uncertain as to what is needed for a particular class, please consult with the Bookstore staff and they will be happy to assist you.
Bookstore Return Policy - Sales of supplies are final. Books may be returned for full credit within 10 days of purchase if you have a change in your course schedule. A refund will be made provided you have a sales receipt, provide a drop form, and return the books in new condition. Please note that books that include opened software may not be returned for credit.
Campus Phones
One pay phone has been installed in the Vending area in the B wing on the first floor. A TTY phone is also available at the Main Lobby Reception Desk. Contact Sue Gauck in room C102 for assistance.
Cell Phones - The use of cell phones is not allowed in the open labs. Individual faculty may also have requirements pertaining to the use of cell phones in the classrooms and in the labs.
Children on campus - Children may not accompany adults to class, lab areas, Library, or be left unattended in the buildings. We want to ensure the safety and security of children, and avoid distractions in the classrooms. Information on child care alternatives can be obtained in Student Affairs, Room A100A.
Food and Beverages - Food is not permitted in the classrooms and labs. All beverages must be in a container with a re-closeable lid. This is especially important in labs where equipment can be damaged.
Pets - Pets and other animals are not allowed on campus, other than those in use for purposes of assistance with a disability (for instance, seeing-eye dogs).
Student Complaints - Students who have complaints regarding courses in which they are enrolled may contact the Office of Student Affairs, Room A100A, for details on the procedures for dealing with their concerns.
Student Parking - Students must obtain a parking permit (free of charge) from the Main Lobby Reception Desk in order to park their vehicle(s). All vehicles that will be used must have a permit in order to park on campus. Vehicles incorrectly parked will be towed at the owner’s/driver’s expense. Handicapped parking permits must be obtained at the local license branch. Two areas are also available specifically for motorcycle parking -- on the east side of the building and on the south side of the building.
