This course presents the Uses of Rigid Roam in Metal Stud Wall Assemblies, Roof Assemblies and Fire-blocking Type V, for Residential Construction. Basis for the discussion will be the International Building Code requirements, as well as the code approvals for rigid foam per NFPA 285 Tests.

Course objectives
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the IBC code requirement in regard to rigid foam and fire-blocking
2. Understand Foam Plastic direct to Steel Deck, small scale test (FM4450 & UL 1256) and full scale tests (New UL Classified 440, 457)
3. State the difference between fire-stopping and fire-blocking for Type V, Residential Construction and the different materials used in fire-blocking.
4. Discuss alternate bracing methods and building for energy efficiency.
Training description and materials
This instructor led course will focus on current Indiana County Building Code requirements. Section R602.10 of the International Residential Code, 2003, the IBC Code and NFPA tests will be discussed. Handouts will be provided. Instruction will be provided by technical specialist.
Hours and cost:
Your Fire-Blocking and Rigid Foam course is a 3-hour training activity, scheduled at your convenience for up to a maximum of 20 participants. 0.3 IACET approved CEU’s will be awarded upon completion of the course. Pricing includes training administration, instruction, class handouts, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
