Tools and Die Making I

In this course participants will learn to make, repair and modify special tools, dies, jigs and fixtures using various metals, alloys and plastics. Upon completion of this course, participants will have manufactured a die that incorporates the parting principle and performed the following operations: forming, piercing, and parting.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Demonstrate safe practice and procedures
  • Utilize gauges and other measuring devices
  • Craft precision tools to cut, shape and form metal and other materials
  • Develop production plans/bid sheet and maintain inspection sheets
  • Given stock and blueprint, machine details to pre-heat treat dimensions
  • Assemble stamping die
  • Produce metal stamping die piece parts
  • Repair worn or damaged tools, dies, fixtures and jigs

TRAINING DESCRIPTION AND MATERIALS

This instructor led course with reference text and workbook focuses in part on the production of tools, dies, and special guiding and holding devices that enable machines to manufacture a variety of products. This course will focus on the learner and the ability to demonstrate competencies in tool and die making.

HOURS

Your Tool and Die Making I course is a 28-hour training activity, scheduled at your convenience for up to a maximum of 10 participants.  2.8 IACET approved CEU’s will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.  Pricing includes training administration, instruction, textbook & course materials, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
