Electrical Circuits

This course develops understanding of electricity and electronics relating to passive DC circuits. Participants will review and apply concepts in series-parallel circuits, voltage and current dividers, Kirchhoff's Laws, network analysis, loading effects, maximum power transfer, and magnetism.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Analyze, construct, and troubleshoot series-parallel circuits
  • Calculate the power dissipated in a DC circuit
  • Analyze voltage and current dividers, both loaded and unloaded circuits
  • Analyze a basic voltmeter, ammeter and ohmmeter circuits
  • Analyze DC circuits with single and multiple sources by applying Kirchoff’s Laws, Thevenin’s Theorem and Norton’s Theorem
  • Analyze DC circuits with multiple sources by applying the superposition theorem
  • Calculate and explain circuit conditions necessary for maximum power transfer
  • Explain basic principles of magnetism and electromagnetic induction
  • Explain basic motor and generator operation

TRAINING DESCRIPTION AND MATERIALS

This instructor led course with reference text and workbook focuses in part on the understanding of electricity and electronics relating to passive DC circuits.  Course theory and the proper use of equipment will be reinforced through instructor-led activities and hands-on lab work.

HOURS

Your Electrical Circuits course is a 28-hour training activity, scheduled at your convenience for up to a maximum of 10 participants.  2.8 IACET approved CEU’s will be awarded upon successful completion of the course.  Pricing includes training administration, instruction, textbook & course materials, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
