Relapse Prevention Therapy
This course will provide an understanding of what happens to chemically dependent clients while in recovery that lead them to return to chemical use. The major warning signs or relapse triggers will be identified. An understanding of the dysfunctional thinking, feeling, and behavior while a person is in recovery and how to correct their thinking, feeling, and behavior will be addressed. The information revealed in this course is taken from the Gorski-Cenaps model of recovery. This model gives the client the ability to bring to consciousness the patterns that have been unconscious and have kept the addict in a state of relapse.

• Define the difference between “recovery” and “relapse”

• Understand the therapeutic structure of this model vs. other models

• Understand what criteria the client must meet before participating in this model

• Identify the major warning signs and hidden warning signs

• Learn the difference between dysfunctional and functional thinking, feeling, and behaving

• Learn how to help the client to identify and manage intervention points while in recovery

TRAINING DESCRIPTION

The training will include the following instructional methods: lecture, handouts, Q&A, video, panel discussion, and group discussion.

HOURS AND COST

Your Relapse Prevention Therapy course includes 7 contact hours of training for up to 11 participants. With successful completion of the 7 hour course, 7 hours of Approved Category I Continuing Education credit for mental health professionals will be awarded as well as .7 IACET Approved CEUs. Pricing includes training administration, instruction, class materials, certificate of completion, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
