Linux+ Linux Professional
Ivy Tech Community College - Central Indiana, Corporate and Continuing Education, in partnership with Gatlin Education Services (GES), offers online open enrollment programs designed to provide the skills necessary to acquire professional level positions for many in-demand occupations.

The LPI Certification has been developed by the Linux Professional Institute (LPI), a non-profit organization.This Professional Linux Certification is designed to provide a usable, common measurement of Linux skills when considering people for hire, contracting or other roles.The Linux Professional Institute believes in the need for a standardized, multi-national, and respected program to certify levels of individual expertise in Linux.The goal is to design and deliver such a program from within the Linux community, using both volunteer and hired resources as necessary.The LPI resolve to undertake a well-considered, open, disciplined development process, leading directly to the establishment of a recognized and widely-endorsed Linux certification body.

TRAINING DESCRIPTION AND MATERIALS

LPI Certification candidates are required to pass two exams, the 101 exam and the 102 exam, covering fundamental system administration activities that are common across all flavors of Linux. They also must be Grade 12 or equivalent or Mature Student Status and must achieve a grade of 75% or better on our entrance exam.

Students should have a fundamental knowledge of at least one operating system and some familiarity with basic networking concepts. Experience with Windows 9x/Me or a network operating system (NOS) such as Windows NT/2000 is preferred.

This program is designed for entry-level students who wish to manage Linux systems and/or individuals interested in obtaining an LPIC designation and/or becoming CompTIA Linux+ certified. Software programs are only compatible with the Microsoft Operating System and Internet Explorer.

HOURS AND COST

Your Linux+/Linux Professional training course includes 300 hours of on-line instruction for one employee. Price includes training administration, instruction, Microsoft textbooks, downloadable software, access to an online IT library, and an activity evaluation at the conclusion of training.
