Ivy Tech Community College honors top professors
INDIANAPOLIS - Ivy Tech Community College has selected 14 instructors, one from each of the college’s 14 regions, as recipients of the annual President’s Award for Excellence in Instruction.

Since 1983, one instructor from each of the College’s regions has been annually selected to receive the President’s Award.  Of the 14 recipients, one is selected to receive the Glenn W. Sample Award for Excellence in Instruction, the College’s highest honor for faculty.  The Sample Award will be presented at a luncheon scheduled for Thursday afternoon at The Marriott East in Indianapolis.

“Each of the individuals being honored has made an impact, not only on their students, but also on their campuses and communities,” said Ivy Tech President Thomas J. Snyder.  “Thousands of students have benefited from their efforts.  They are truly great teachers who change lives.  I applaud these instructors for giving themselves.  For them, success is knowing they’ve changed just one student’s life.”

The 2008 President's Awards recipients include: Rick Soria, Program Chair for Mortuary Science, East Chicago Campus; Kathryn Waltz-Freel, Department Chair for Academic Skills Advancement, South Bend Campus; Mary Anna Bradshaw, Assistant Professor of Human Services, Fort Wayne Campus; Wesley Marion, Program Chair and Instructor of Paralegal Studies, Lafayette Campus; Patricia Slusher, Assistant Professor and Program Chair for Medical Assisting, Kokomo Campus; Teresa Macauley, Program Chair for Dental Assisting, Anderson Campus; Jennifer Purdue, Program Chair for Respiratory Care, Terre Haute Campus; Lauri Griffin, Assistant Professor of Hospitality Administration, Indianapolis Campus; Jason Johnson, Assistant Professor and Program Chair for Business Administration, Richmond Campus; John Wm. Roberts, Assistant Professor and Program Chair for English, Speech and Academic Skills Advancement, Columbus Campus; Steven Kristoff, Associate Professor and Program Chair for Math and Science, Lawrenceburg Campus; Karen Welte Gore, Professor of Business Administration, Evansville Campus; David Lee Clifton, Associate Professor and Chair of the Schools of Business, Education and Public Services, Sellersburg Campus; and Lou Pierro, Program Chair for Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology and Visual Communications, Bloomington Campus.
