Ivy Tech Community College ranks among fastest growing colleges

Eleven Ivy Tech regions ranked by Community College Week

INDIANAPOLIS – Eleven regions of Ivy Tech Community College are listed among the fastest growing community college campuses in the nation, in a report released this week by Community College Week.

Ivy Tech’s Indianapolis region ranked ninth among schools with an enrollment of 10,000 students or more, as it experienced a 7.2 percent enrollment increase from Fall 2005 to Fall 2006. 

Among schools with an enrollment of less than 2,500 students, the Richmond region ranked 11th with a 26.4 percent enrollment increase from Fall 2005 to Fall 2006.  Two other Ivy Tech regions ranked among the top 50 in this category, as Ivy Tech’s Southeast region experienced a 17.4 percent enrollment increase to rank 24th and Ivy Tech’s Columbus region grew by 13.2 percent to rank 48th. 

The regions of Bloomington, Sellersburg, Kokomo and Northwest all ranked in the top 50 among colleges with an enrollment of 2,500 to 4,999 students.  Bloomington ranked third with an enrollment increase of 17.4 percent, Sellersburg ranked 17th with an enrollment increase of 10.8 percent, Kokomo ranked 26th with an enrollment increase of 8.4 percent and Northwest ranked 42nd with an enrollment increase of 6.8 percent.

Among schools with an enrollment of 5,000 to 9,999 students, Ivy Tech’s Terre Haute region ranked 21st with an enrollment increase of 8.7 percent, while Ivy Tech’s Fort Wayne region ranked 35th with a 6.5 percent increase and Ivy Tech’s Lafayette region ranked 48th with an enrollment increase of 5.3 percent.

Ivy Tech Community College has seen tremendous growth statewide, more than doubling its enrollment from 50,752 students in 1990 to more than 110,000 this Fall semester.
