Ivy Tech Community College- Northwest region was founded in 1968 and serves Lake,  Porter, La Porte, Newton, Jasper, Pulaski, Starke counties. More than 5,000 students are enrolled at one of the four campuses: 1,000 at East Chicago, 2,000 at Gary, more than 800 at Michigan City and nearly 2,000 at the Valparaiso campus.
