Phi Theta Kappa (South Bend, Elkhart and Warsaw campuses)
PTK International

What is Phi Theta Kappa?
Phi Theta Kappa is an international scholastic honorary society for students enrolled in two year colleges.  The only nationally acclaimed honor organization serving  American institutions offering associate degree programs, Phi Theta Kappa annually initiates some 50,000 students into over 1200 chapters located in the U.S. and its territorial possessions. The organization maintains a "shared commitment  to excellence" through its four hallmarks: scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service.  While its 1,100,000 alumni throughout the world agree that membership helped them win scholarships and land their first jobs, they also agree that Phi Theta Kappa fueled their drive for continued academic excellence and nurtured their desire to be leaders, to serve, and to make the world a better place.

Student Government Association (South Bend, Elkhart & Warsaw campuses
SGA was established by students to encourage participation in student government and to improve the quality of students’ educational experience. It is a representative body of students with responsibilities for:

  • Disbursing student activity fees collected as part of tuition fees. A large portion of this disbursement is to official campus organizations.
  • Approving, with College administration, all student organizations seeking to make use of College facilities, whether or not they are seeking financial assistance from SGA. All approved organizations must be open for membership to all eligible candidates and must make available to SGA the records of officers, membership and financial transactions.
  • Sponsoring activities to provide leadership training, promote service learning or improve the quality of student life.

Instructors are encouraged to promote participation in SGA among their students and to create their own student organization to promote the educational activities of their program. Funding assistance is available through the SGA.
